My philosophies as a TCK and a Coach that has helped TCKs move forward: A focus on true resolution

Moving beyond coping

For TCKs, true resolution of identity issues happens when they move beyond certain strategies such as solely focusing on the positive aspects of their TCK experiences and traits, trying to build an identity solely around being a TCK, or viewing their TCK-related challenges as normal, permanent aspects of themselves that they have no choice but to cope with or manage.

Identity issues are symptoms, not the problem

Identity issues and the related stress, anxiety, and other challenging emotions you experience daily are symptoms of deeper, underlying causes. These root causes often stem from deeply ingrained emotions and beliefs you carry as a result of past experiences. These old emotions and beliefs keep parts of you stuck in the past, profoundly impacting your sense of self and how you experience your life each day.

Focusing on uncovering vs. building identity

Finding identity requires removing what's hindering your ability to be yourself, rather than building a new identity. This is why I combine a powerful mind-body therapeutic approach with coaching to help you uncover and and be freed from the emotions and beliefs that contribute to your identity issues. Together, our work empowers you to uncover and gain clarity about who you are.

A sign of true resolution of identity issues is when you no longer feel a need to define yourself. You live each day at ease with all of the qualities that make you uniquely you.

The types of TCKs I work with

The term "Third Culture Kid (TCK)" is broadly defined as someone who grew up in a culture that's different from the one in which their parents grew up. (Read more about this term.)

I work with all types of adult TCKs, including:

  • Children of immigrants (1.5, 2nd, and 3rd generation)

  • Children of expatriates who moved into another culture at least once

A key aspect that all of my clients share is that they grew up feeling different from others in their environment, including the majority of their peers and their family.

Living In Clarity is for you if you are seeking to:

  • Be freed from recurring stress and anxiety

  • Stop feeling like you're not good enough

  • Resolve communication and relationship challenges

  • Stop continually focusing on the needs and desires of others and instead feel comfortable honoring yours

  • Lose the desire to fit into a label

  • Feel comfortable as you are

  • Make decisions about your life with confidence

  • Choose which aspects of your background you want to appreciate and enjoy

  • Find people, places, and things that support who you are and can give you connection

I work with individuals who are committed to introspection and self-discovery, which are essential for facilitating personal growth and change.

As a TCK myself, I understand the unique and complex challenges that TCKs experience while growing up and how difficult it can be to resolve resulting identity issues.

I use a gentle, collaborative approach to help TCKs navigate the intricate layers of their experiences and find resolution to these challenges.
